DESCRIPTION

Villenave d'Ornon is located in the South West of France, in the Gironde department (33), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Located in the south of Bordeaux, Villenave d'Ornon is the fifth town in the Bordeaux metropolis by number of inhabitants and the eleventh by area.

Surrounded by castles, vineyards but also very close to Bordeaux, Villenave d'Ornon is a dynamic town.

Numerous castles, charged with the history of the city, make up the Villenavian landscape. Among them, some are also wine-growing such as Château Carbonnieux or Château Baret. Villenave d'Ornon also hosts two renowned research institutes: the Institute of Vine and Wine Sciences (ISVV) and the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA).

The city's sports complexes, which are numerous and modern, allow the associations, as well as school groups, to play sports throughout the year. Among these facilities are the Elisabeth Riffiod Sports Complex, the Nelson Paillou gymnasium and the Olympic swimming pool, which is the only approved Olympic basin in the department.

Villenave d'Ornon is committed to a process of sustainability, protection and environmental respect. The town has several parks and natural spaces including several hectares of sensitive natural spaces on the banks of the Garonne. From Villenave d'Ornon it is also very easy to get to Bordeaux thanks to the different types of transport, the majority of which are environmentally friendly.

Each year, Villenave d'Ornon also sets up a cultural season which includes shows, concerts or exhibitions. The inhabitants of Villenave d'Ornon can also take artistic expression and language courses in the various municipal schools or participate in workshops and choose their next readings in the two multimedia libraries of the city. In addition, the municipality has nine nursery schools, eight elementary schools and two colleges.

Outside the walls, the municipal chalet "Le Cabrit", located in Luz-Saint-Sauveur, invites travelers to escape and rejuvenate, summer and winter.
